What was the reason, and who is the target audience?

Everyone in the gambling industry knows about responsible gambling practices, but those outside this line of work may have limited knowledge about it. MGM China aimed to bridge this gap. The primary goal of the course was to broaden awareness about the risks associated with gambling and combat the negative consequences of uncontrolled gambling. The course was designed for a wider audience, including community members who might not have direct ties to gambling. This inclusive approach sought to educate a broader segment of the population about responsible gambling. The course featured notable speakers such as Davis Fong, who directs the Institute for the
Study of Commercial Gaming at the University of Macau, and Pak Kin Pong, who leads the Macau Gaming Industry Employees Home Integrated Services Centre. Their expertise provided valuable insights into the complexities of gambling and the importance of responsible practices.

The result of the training

At the end of the training course, the attendees learned how to encourage individuals struggling with uncontrolled gambling to seek professional help. The organizers provided comprehensive teaching materials to all participants to reinforce the knowledge shared during the course and facilitate further exploration of the topic. Additionally, each attendee received the Responsible Gambling Promotion Box, which included books, leaflets, and other educational resources. These materials were intended to support ongoing learning and advocacy for responsible gambling.

Will there be more conferences like this in the future?

While it’s not certain, MGM China has expressed a commitment to continuing its efforts to inform about the risks that brings uncontrolled gambling. Their ultimate goal is to make Macau a safe and socially responsible destination for both residents and visitors.
